On May 30th, a vegan restaurant "The Witch's House in the North" (Toriage, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-55-9855 ) opened near Shibata Gakuen University.

The store offers vegan lunches and sweets and sells organic ingredients. Erika Ando, the owner of "Five Grains Fermented Musubi-an" in the natural food store "Aburaya Fukuroku", changed the industry and relocated and opened. The name of the store is derived from "Witch of the North" that appears in "The Wizard of Oz".

Mr. Ando became interested in food because of his poor physical condition, and began to pay attention to food in order to manage his physical condition. "Sometimes my skin got better when I stopped eating sugar, and I got sick when I tried a sugar diet to get rid of rice. I tried various things and arrived at vegan, millet, and sugar-free." Mr. Ando.

"Vegan" is a lifestyle that does not eat animal ingredients, including meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and honey. Mr. Ando says, "I'm not good at slaughtering meat, so I let people do what I don't want to do, and I feel uncomfortable with the idea of eating." "I don't want each person to have an idea, but I want them to enjoy it as a dish."

The store area is about 9 tsubo. The number of seats is 10. The ruins of a coffee shop have been renovated to create a small rise where you can take off your shoes so that you can stay longer. In the store, we sell organic ingredients and seasonings that were handled at "Aburaya Fukuroku".

The menu includes "Vegan miscellaneous grain lunch course (with drinks and sweets)" (1,800 yen), vegan miscellaneous grain lunch (1,200 yen), non-sugar daily sweets (400 yen and up), organic domestic black tea, and grain coffee (400 yen or more). Soy milk or oats latte (600 yen), apple juice (450 yen), etc. Reservations are prioritized for lunch. Reservation up to the day before corresponds to takeout. Mr. Ando says, "I want you to bring a take-out container to reduce garbage."

Mr. Ando says, "Hirosaki has few places to eat animal foods and foods that do not use sugar, and there is little interest in it. I hope to become a platform-like restaurant where you can learn about vegan food."

Business hours are from 11:00 to 16:00. Closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and 2nd and 4th Saturdays.
