    At the Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art (Yasuda, Aomori City), a special exhibition by Toru Narita, who is in charge of the original drawings for Ultraman, is currently being held.

    Mr. Narita from Aomori Prefecture was born in 1929. After graduating from Musashino Art School (now Musashino Art University), he helped with the shooting scene of the movie "Godzilla" and was involved in special effects scenes. Contracted with “Tsuburaya Special Skills Production” and worked on the overall design of special effects works centered on “Ultraman”. In 1970, the “Tree of Life” was designed inside the “Tower of the Sun” at the Japan World Exposition. , Painting, design, illustration, special effects art. Died in 2002 (age 72).

    At the same exhibition entitled “Toru Narita Art / Special Effects / Monsters”, more than 700 works by Mr. Narita will be exhibited. It was held at the Toyama Museum of Modern Art (Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture) in July last year, and from January 2015 at the Fukuoka City Museum of Art (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture). At the end of the museum, curator Kenshi Kudo said, "I think Narita's exhibition will not be held at this scale for a while." He shows enthusiasm for having prepared various devices.

    There are 8 types of flyer designs. We have prepared 6 types of designs that are generally distributed, 1 type of advance ticket purchaser privilege, and a secret design that is distributed only to the venue. “I wanted to stimulate a childish desire to collect them all,” says Kudo. "There are other types of admission tickets besides adults, junior high and high school students, and children."

    The venue design is also shown. "Oni must be the one who looks up", and the demon monument "Oeyama Oni" is exhibited at a place higher than the eyes of people. "Speaking of Ultraman is a sci-fi special effects monument," says Mr. Kudo. There is also a booth that unifies the entire exhibition space into a SF-like space, and smiles, "There is a mechanism even after all the exhibitions are finished." Due to Aomori's connection, a special manuscript of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who was also a character designer of “Mobile Suit Gundam” who was also enrolled at Hirosaki University, is also exhibited.

    The exhibition that reached 10,000 visitors on May 6th. “I would like to see a wider range of generations, not to mention those who have actually seen Ultraman,” says Narita. "If you have an opportunity to look at works such as Ultraman that are generally classified into subcultures and ask questions such as" What is the difference between subcultures and art or art? "

    Opening hours are from 9:30 to 17:00. Admission is 1,200 yen for the general public, 800 yen for high school students, 200 yen for elementary and middle school students. Until May 31st.
