On February 11th, Aomori-based singer-songwriter Sonia announced a new song "Silver Words" sung in full-length Tsugaru dialect.

The song sings the lyrics of Tsugaru dialect like a foreign language, saying, "I'm sorry, I have to do it (meaning" I'm not energetic and you're not like me "). According to Sonia, it's a cheering song for people who want to get well even with corona. "Silver Words" is a coined word devised by Mr. Sonia, and has the meaning of "the language of the snowy country and the dialect used by the elderly."

Sonia, who lives in Aomori and Namioka, started her musical activities at the age of 17, and is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. In addition to appearing in club events inside and outside the prefecture, he continues to perform activities such as releasing two albums, composing original songs for local town councils, and shooting music videos in Aomori prefecture. Currently, there are no plans for live performances due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and he is mainly engaged in creative activities.

The song was written in an hour around December last year. Sonia said, "The reason I chose Tsugaru dialect was that I wanted people who didn't understand the meaning of Tsugaru dialect to feel cool, just as they would hear foreign songs cool even if they didn't understand the meaning of the lyrics."

It's been a month since the song was released, and people who can understand the lyrics responded that they could "cry" and "smear in their hearts," while others said that they "did not understand" and "became a habit." Mr. Orin, the leader of Aomori's dance and vocal unit "RINGOMUSUME", commented on Instagram's stories, "I feel Aomori from all the songs with the piercing lyrics."

Sonia smiles, "I would be happy if the music from Aomori could inspire as many people as possible. I wish I could send the Tsugaru dialect to the world."

The price starts from 250 yen. Sold on various distribution sites such as the "iTunes Store".
