The bathhouse of Aomori's inn "Yamani Senyukan" (Owani-cho, Minamitsugaru-gun) was renewed on March 5 as "Taisho Retro Bath Roman Fountain".

Two baths for men and women for guests have been renewed using about 800 majolica tiles of 43 types. Keisuke Kikuchi, the 5th owner of the museum, said, "The postcards from that time still remain, and until the 1945's, the bathhouses of the museum used majolica tiles. I wanted to reproduce them someday."

"Yamani Senyukan" is the only nationally designated registered tangible cultural property in Owani. Founded in 1872 (Meiji 5). Shinpei Goto, a politician who was also known as the writer Osamu Dazai's stay and served as Foreign Minister during the Meiji era, told the museum that "Reisen products are the best for the world (" Excellent hot springs are the best for the world. " It means "is") ".

Mr. Kikuchi said, "Although this hotel was visited by literary masters and celebrities, I wondered if I could make more use of the hot springs as a tourist attraction. I wanted to make a new renovation. "

Construction was done in February. Some of them are kept alive, and the washbasin is barrier-free. Colored glass blocks were installed on the wall to provide lighting. “I ordered many types of majolica tiles and chose the ones that fit, but it was better not to unify them,” says Kikuchi.

There are no plans to accept one-day bathing. Some of the guests have already taken a bath three times a day. Mr. Kikuchi smiles, "I would be happy if you could stay and feel the Taisho romance and Showa retro style."

    Accommodation reservations are accepted online.
