The "Big Yellow 2021", the largest ginkgo tree in Japan in Aomori and Fukaura, is in full bloom.

It is a ginkgo tree that is about 1000 years old and about 31 meters high, and is locally called "Ginkgo biloba in Kita Kanegasawa" or "Ginkgo biloba". The trunk circumference of about 22 meters is registered with the Ministry of the Environment as the first giant tree in Japan in the ginkgo biloba category and the third largest in all tree species. In 2004 (Heisei 16), it was designated as a national natural monument.

This is the 10th night illumination this year. The proportion of colored leaves became colored for about 8 minutes, and many spectators visited on the weekends of November 20th and 21st, when it was in full bloom, and there was a traffic jam waiting for temporary parking in the surrounding area. According to the announcement by Fukaura Town, the total number of visitors during the light-up period has reached about 13,000 to date.

This year, from the viewpoint of tree protection, a stationary fence is installed so as not to affect the roots. It is the first time to limit the time of light-up. The lights were changed to LED lights, and the lights around the trunk were increased to make them brighter.

Kodai Furukawa of the Tourism Division of Fukaura Town Hall said, "This year, you can enjoy the powerful big yellow when the leaves are yellow without the influence of strong winds. When the best time to see, you can enjoy the yellow carpet where the fallen leaves color the ground. So I want you to enjoy it as the second best time to see it. "

The lighting time is from 16:30 to 20:30. Until November 30th.
