The American dining "The Polar Grill" in Goshogawara, Aomori (Honcho, Goshogawara, TEL 0173-30-1037 ) celebrated its first anniversary on July 3rd.

The store was opened by Mr. Daiki Nagamine, who made a U-turn from the Kanto area near "Tachineputa Museum". Mr. Nagamine, who liked American culture, started because there was no American restaurant in Goshogawara. The name of the restaurant means "a polar restaurant" and was named after the interpretation that Goshogawara corresponds to the polar regions of Honshu.

Mr. Nagamine is from Goshogawara, and after graduating from a vocational school in Aomori, he moved to Tokyo and trained as an itamae, but was frustrated. After returning home, he worked at a restaurant such as a yakiniku restaurant, but at the age of 25 he decided to open an American restaurant. I didn't have a store to gain experience, so I went back to Tokyo and worked at a hamburger store in Ebisu and a store that offers craft beer in Yokohama.

"My father influenced me to become a cook and I wanted to be a cook, but I didn't have the genre of food I wanted to serve. I liked American culture, so I focused on hamburgers as American food. I started thinking about American dining. "Mr. Nagamine.

The store area is 20 tsubo and the number of seats is 25. Opened at the site of the Italian restaurant "Cafe de Brick". It is said that the place was decided before the U-turn. While using the buns of the bread studio "Tatsuya" (Ajigasawa) as the ingredients, there is also one aspect that sticks to the American cuisine, such as using American beef.

The menu includes plain burger (1,000 yen), cheeseburger (1,100 yen), homemade bacon cheeseburger (1,300 yen), avocado barker (1,200 yen), ribeye steak (2,300 yen), Keijan chicken (1,000 yen), Bulled pork sandwich (1,200 yen), etc. The hamburger menu includes french fries and coleslaw. Soft drinks are 100 yen, and craft beer is also offered. It also supports children's menus and take-outs for kids hamburgers (600 yen).

Looking back on the year, Mr. Nagamine said, "I was aiming to take root locally so that American food is among the options such as Chinese and Western food. I feel a slight response." As a future goal, he wants to spread more menus other than hamburgers and focus on meat dishes such as steak.

Mr. Nagamine smiled, "I was planning to go to the United States before the store opened and I had tickets, but I couldn't go to the United States due to the influence of the new coronavirus. I want to go to the United States after the corona has settled down."

Business hours are from 11:30 to 14:30 and from 18:00 to 23:00 (only open for lunch on Sundays). Closed on Mondays and once a month on Tuesdays.
