On June 19th, the "Children's Agriculture Department" of "Mirai Net Hirosaki" (Tokiwazaka, Hirosaki City) experienced apple fruiting.

Mirai Net Hirosaki is a general incorporated association that supports children's whereabouts and provides food bank business. The "Children's Agriculture Department" was established in July 2019 with the aim of letting people know the joy of eating by experiencing local cuisine and making processed products using vegetables grown by themselves.

The experience of "apple fruit picking" is to pick unnecessary fruits to grow large fruits. 13 elementary school students participated in this experience. There were children who went up to containers and picked fruits from high places, and selected fruits while consulting with volunteer students of Hirosaki University who cooperated. Akari Kamada, a sixth grader, smiles, "It was difficult, but I enjoyed working with everyone."

Parents also participate in the experience of the Ministry of Agriculture. Parents said, "It's a valuable opportunity to learn about food and agriculture that not only children but also themselves didn't know about." Fukushi Nanaboshi, a staff member of the Agriculture Department, said, "I would be happy if people who cook rice every day would be grateful."

In addition to the "Children's Agriculture Department", Mirai Net Hirosaki also holds a "Children's Cafeteria" and a "Osagari Exchange Meeting" to exchange disused items. From July 1st, we will start "Aomori Prefectural Denki," an electric power service that supports groups and activities that tackle regional issues with a part of the electricity bill.
