    On January 24th, at the Miyagawa Exchange Center (Katata, Hirosaki City), a workshop was held to "know the shipping process-also the roots of the auction of Ichimachida! Let's eat".

    Seri, one of the seven spring herbs, is indispensable for New Year's dishes for Aomori residents. In the Ichimachida area of the city, called Tsugaru Fuji, which is rich in spring water from Mt.

    The workshop was instructed by Ryuta Ito, the owner of "Iwakiyama Vineyard". Mr. Ito is from Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture and has opened a vineyard in the area since 2009. Seri cultivation "was started three years ago by local people's recommendation, but now I am continuing because I want consumers to eat delicious food."

    The workshop started with the introduction of annual work and harvest of auction. "Since aeri is an aquatic plant, it is soaked in water to the waist and harvested, and the mud on the roots is washed by hand one by one using the spring water of Mt. Iwaki," says Ito. With the advice of Mr. Ito, the participants selected the washed apricots, washed them with water, and cooked them.

    Fifteen participants, including students, said, “It was hard work. I could eat Seri at home, but I didn't think I could eat the roots at all,” says Fumika Saito, a third-year student at Hirosaki University. Mr. Kasumi Yamamoto, a 3rd year student at the university, said, “I want to cook the auction dishes I learned today at home.”

    Mayumi Sato of the Aomori CSA research project team, who sponsored the event, said with satisfaction, "I think the experience of cooking while talking directly with the producer was a good experience." On February 8th, "Humumum time related to vegetables" will be held by Yoichi Narita, who is a representative of a healthy village that grows organic vegetables.
