The pattern of the athletic meet 40 years ago, which remained in 8mm film, was screened at Iwakiyama Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1 Kata, Hirosaki City) on April 12.

It was planned as a program for the general meeting of the Kada Town Association, and was proposed by Mr. Katsuhiro Tsushima, a Tsushima confectionery shop living in the town. At the end of last year, he found a film left behind when he was rearranging his house as part of his activities at the Kada Community Center.

Before the screening, Mr. Tsushima explained the plan's intention, "In this video, the scenery of the time and the appearance of the ancestors who supported the Kada Town Association were shown. When the filming started, the residents of the neighborhood association visited and voiced "nostalgia" and "joy", and applauded and laughed.

HMD (Home Movie Day) Hirosaki cooperated in the screening. HMD carries out activities to talk with each other by bringing a sleeping film to their home and watching it together. It became a global activity started by American film preservation experts and started in 2006 in Hirosaki.

Asako Takemori, the representative of the group, said, “I would like to convey not only the screening but also the importance of preserving the film because it is easy to deteriorate,” and emphasized that I felt the significance of screening in that area again.

According to Tsushima, there are films that show the process of making Neputa and documentaries that try to get off Iwakiyama by skiing. He also said that he would like to think about the screening of these films in the future.
