An outdoor event "Winter Machinaka Camp" was held on February 20th at Hirosaki Civic Central Square (Shimoshiroganecho, Hirosaki City) adjacent to Hirosaki Park.

The event was planned by the NPO "Sponette" as a new way to use the plaza, which was renewed in April 2020. Participants enjoyed the outdoors in the same square, which is close to the downtown area, as a campsite for one night and two days. Despite the fact that the announcement was only on SNS, the capacity was reached in 3 days.

At the venue, the outdoor apparel shop "Green House EPO" (Ekimaecho) exhibited and sold, and "Nishimeya Maki Energy" (Nishimeya Village) set up a firewood experience corner for campers. In the evening, a bar counter was set up to serve cocktails and hot drinks.

Participants were allowed to deliver food from seven restaurants in Hirosaki, and some of them went to the downtown area. Due to its rarity, there are many spectators, and according to the organizer's announcement, about 200 people visited the venue. Aoi Kauchi of Sponette said, "While I can't travel due to the corona sickness, outdoor demand is increasing in Aomori. I hope it helps the local economy by doing it in the city instead of doing it in nature." Talk to.

A man in his 40s who participated from Misawa said, "I envy Hirosaki for this kind of project. It's a rare initiative in Japan." A man in his 50s who participated from Aomori said, "It's been a year since I started camping, but I'm happy as a beginner to see the camp gear of the participants at an event like this. This kind of project will be a new way to enjoy local cities. "Well," smiles.

On February 27, a camp event will be held at Hiroka Shusei Sports Park (formerly Shusei Elementary School Ground). Sponet is currently accepting applications for participation.
