"Kuroishi Candle Night 2014" will be held on December 20 at "Otogura Komisen" (Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture). Sponsored by "Tsugaru artist group Ogura family".

The same event where the lights are turned off and the candles are lit on the nights of the summer and winter solstices. It will be held as a support event for the "1 million candle event" that is being held nationwide.

The "Otogura Komisen" at the venue is a storehouse built in the early Showa period. It was used as a warehouse for storing sake rice at an adjacent Narumi brewery store, but was renovated as a multipurpose hall in 2003. “The candle night held in the warehouse is rare in Japan,” says Junta Nakata, a “sound family”.

At the event, the Neputa paintings that are usually displayed in the warehouse are removed to renew the atmosphere. It is said that they will try to decorate with the image of “Nordic winter”. The wooden arcade of "Komise-dori," which is designated as a Preservation District of Important Traditional Buildings, is also illuminated.

In addition to the workshop for making original candles, 3 restaurants in the city set up original food and drink sales areas on the day. All four groups of artists will perform live, including the African band "MUGEN∞SANKOLO", which is active in Aomori, and Tetsuro Narumi, a singer and songwriter who lives in the area.

Currently, the organizers, who are working at a fast pace toward the event, call for visitors to "spend a relaxing and slow time under the candlelight."

Open at 17:00. Entrance fee = 500 yen. Free for elementary school students and younger.
