The cafe "Kotori cafe" in the Hyakuseki-cho exhibition hall (Hirosaki City Hyakuseki-cho, TEL 0172-88-8504) will celebrate its 7th anniversary on May 25th.

The cafe opened in 2013. The same building was built in 1883 as a store for a kimono store, and is now designated as a cultural property. The city manages it as a "facility that supports citizens' cultural activities." ..

The NPO corporation harappa, which operates the cafe, has its origins in the activity of "Nara Yoshitomo Hirosaki", which was held in 2002 at the brick warehouse (now Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum) in Yoshino-cho, Hirosaki is planning short film screenings and music events.

Prior to joining Harappa, the store manager, Ayako Umehara, acted as a representative of the sundries unit "Rosette" and provided snacks and sweets at events. "The unit we created was "Rosette," which I thought of as a citizen staff member of Nara's exhibition and wanting to convey something myself, and the muffin was the shape of that activity," says Umehara.

Muffins have become the signboard menu of the store and have been available since the opening. It is said that more than 50 kinds have been made so far, using raw seasonal materials. Regarding the charm of muffins, Mr. Umehara smiles, "Children who dislike carrots can eat carrot muffins. Mysterious sweets that can eat delicious foods that they are not good at."

Before the spread of the new coronavirus infection, a muffin workshop was held once a month, but it is currently suspended. Instead, I started the mail order of the mixed powder "muffin kit" that can make muffins at home from May 13. “I heard that children who are going to school all the way down are bored at home, so I developed it in the hope that I could have a little fun at home,” says Umehara.

We are currently holding a "muffin general election" using the voting function of SNS. The most popular muffin will be sold at half price on May 30th and 31st. Mr. Umehara says, "Because there were people who helped me for seven years in a blink of an eye. This project was so grateful." "I want to continue to develop new products and products that can spread muffins in the future."

Business hours from 11:00 to 17:00. Closed on Mondays.
