The old furniture store "green furniture" in Hirosaki (Daikanmachi, Hirosaki, TEL 0172-33-9288) was reopened on March 1.

Specializing in old furniture at a sister store of the select shop "green" (Daikanmachi). From 2011 (Heisei 23), old furniture was sold along with men's clothing on the 2nd floor of "green", but it moved to its current location due to the limited sales space. Initially, only men's clothing was available, but since 2014 (Heisei 26), it has become a store specializing in old furniture.

According to Takahiro Sano, the store manager, the renewal was an idea that had been under consideration for more than two years. The 80-year-old building used to occupy about 21 tsubo and was divided into 3 rooms. “We had a main sales floor and a closed room, but we broke the walls and opened the ceiling to create an open space,” says Sano.

The renovation was closed during February, and took one month with the store owner, Mr. Hisashi Kobayashi. Changed the layout of the store so that you can go around old miscellaneous goods centered around antique furniture such as old clocks 100 years ago. Mr. Sano recalls, "The hardest thing was to repaint the ceiling with white."

Mr. Sano talks about his goal, "I want to raise the recycling rate," with the concept of "to someone who needs what they no longer need." Hirosaki has escaped air raids, so there are many pre-war furniture and antique items. “Some of the things I don't know how to use, I'm happy if you can walk around the store while imagining it. I want you to know that you can create new value by repairing and changing the way it is displayed.”

"We hope that customers who are not interested in it will be interested in recycling and remake, and will continue to use old things."
