The "Snowwoman Contest" will be held on February 22 at the "Aomori City Medieval House" in Aomori and Namioka (Namioka, Aomori City, TEL 0172-62-1020).

The contest where contestants impersonate Yuki Onna and perform improvisational plays. With the theme of "The bride of Shigama (meaning icicle in Tsugaru dialect)" of Tsugaru's legend, a woman who visits a mountain hut in Matagi struggles to be liked by Matagi in 5 minutes.

This is the 9th time this year, and comedians Tsubakioni and Miyuki Torii have made surprise appearances in the past.

General participants will also have a "Children's Club" for children 12 and under, regardless of nationality, age, or gender. There are no restrictions on decorations and props, and we recommend costumes that are reminiscent of a snow woman. A member of the Namioka Theater Research Group is in charge of Matagi, who plays with Yuki Onna. As a guest performance, the local idol "Rice Ball" is also scheduled to appear.

In addition to about 10 special judges, the general judges, who are arbitrarily selected from the audience, will use the scoring system. This year, the award winner will receive a prize money of 50,000 yen, which is 20,000 yen more than last year. It is said that a humor award will be established. The Children's Club presents 10,000 yen book coupons to the prize winners.

Namioka's 13 restaurants will open at the venue, selling local dishes such as sardine tempura, fried chicken, and potato soup. Mr. Hiroshi Tsushima, the event executive committee member, said, “The number of stores is increasing year by year, and it is also promoting Namioka's special products.”
