A visit to Hirosaki University students was held on November 4 at "Former Hirosaki Kyousha" (Miyuki Town, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-33-2102), an important cultural property designated by Hirosaki.

The former Hirosaki Kyogyosha is a memorial hall of the Hirosaki Welfare Institute, a Renaissance-style Western-style building constructed in 1907 (Meiji 40) as a fellowship of an officer working in the 8th Division of the Old Army and as an academic research facility. From 2013 (Heisei 25), a large-scale preservation repair was started, and the repair was completed in 2019. It is scheduled to be reopened in 2020.

Hirosaki Omori, the secretary general of Hirosaki Kosei Gakuin, guided the tour. While going around each room of the former Hirosaki Kyogyosha, we introduced to the participants the stories of the former Army's use of the time and the state of building repairs.

At the round-table discussion that took place after the tour, Mr. Omori and the participants discussed the theme of how to utilize the company in the future. Mr. Omori says, "The goal is to take inspiration from young people and pass it on to future generations. I want to connect a building that has lasted 100 years to young people who will inherit it for the next 100 years."

Eight university students from Hirosaki University who participated gave their opinions on reading parties and grand pings that made use of the scenery of the building. In the opinion of the participants, Mr. Omori showed a positive attitude that "I would like to carry out education and cultural activities regardless of genre."
