At the Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum (TEL 0172-54-8181, Aomori Prefecture, TEL 0172-54-8181), from July 20th to August 25th, the exhibition and sales event "Ureshi! Fun! Kokeshi!!! Welcome to Pocket Kokeshi Park!" Will be held.

This is the 9th event this year, which sells 3,000 "pocket kokeshi" under 12 cm. Mr. Takuro Yamada of "Tsugaru Saiko", who is responsible for planning and operating the facility, is confident that he is "the largest kokeshi sales event in Japan. It was made by about 125 workers."

"The background to the plan was to support the Kokeshi builder in Tohoku, whose sales channels were narrowed due to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake." “We would like to set the price to 1,000 to 2,000 yen and aim to expand the sales channels to young people at an affordable price,” says Yamada.

There will be a miscellaneous goods corner at the venue, and memo pads, stationery, and files with the motif of "Kokeshi" will be sold. There will also be a “kokeshi painting experience” taught by a kokeshi craftsman, and a game where you can search for kokeshi dolls while solving quizzes.

A one-day limited event will be held, and on the 30th there will be a "Cran cafe" (Kuroishi Onsen Tsuruzumi) that will sell buckwheat flour galettes and sweets, and on August 12th, an eraser stamp workshop will be held.

In addition, as a collaborative project with other industries, we are developing “Koke-shuku”, an accommodation plan that presents “limited Kokeshi” at 12 accommodation facilities in Kuroishi city. A taxi plan is also available, in which the taxi fare to the Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum is fixed. Advance reservations required. “I would like it to be used by first-time travelers who are uncertain about the market price,” says Yamada.

“I want to expand the circle of Kokeshi fans so that visitors can enjoy it and support the success of Kokeshi craftsmen,” he said.

Holding time is from 9:00 to 17:00. free entrance.
