A special exhibition "Blue Eye Doll and Aomori" will be held from April 27 to 29 at the "Foreign Missionary Museum" at Hirosaki Gakuin University (Toshimachi, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-34-5211).

About 12,000 blue-eyed dolls were donated from the United States to Japan in 1926 to improve Japan-US relations, and 220 dolls were delivered to Aomori prefecture. While it was disposed of as a "spy of an enemy country" during the war, nine dolls currently remain in the prefecture and are stored in various places.

According to Miwa Ikushima, an associate professor at the same university, when she introduced a "blue-eyed doll" in a local newspaper in April this year, a woman living in Aomori City said, "A blue-eyed doll kept by her dead husband. "There is". "This is the 10th doll that survived the disposal in Aomori. It is the second case in Japan to be discovered in the 2010s, which is rare in Japan," he said.

In the exhibition, 7 bodies in the Tsugaru region and a total of 8 dolls found this time are lined up at the "Foreign Missionary Museum". “It's been 92 years since their alumni association,” says Ikushima. "Because of the many dolls remaining in the Tsugaru region centered around Hirosaki, 40 missionaries stayed in 100 years, and rather because they were not missionary activities, they were more involved in the region and communicated Western culture," he said.

During the period, we will hold a snack and miscellaneous goods sale by the antenna shop "hug work", a cheering performance, and a handbell mini concert at the school's courtyard plaza. Mr. Ikushima's commentary tour will start from 12:30 on the 28th and 29th.

The university's parking lot will be open free of charge during Golden Week. Mr. Ikushima calls, "The area around Hirosaki Park is crowded and traffic is congested every year. It is convenient to go to the Owani Line using our parking lot." Available time is from 8:30 to 21:00.

    Free to visit.
