The "Owani Onsen Sprout Train" started operating on the 21st January on the Konan Railway Owani Line in Aomori.

In the section from Chuo Hirosaki Station on the Owani Line to Owani Station, the special product "Owani Onsen Sprouts" will be sold onboard. Toshishi Shibuya of the Owani Business Cooperative, who proposed the idea, said, “We wanted to contribute by using local special products to increase the number of Owani Line users. It is the first time in Japan to sell only Moyashi in the train. I suppose."

"Owani Onsen sprouts" is a traditional variety that has been cultivated in the town for over 400 years. From cultivation to shipping, only hot spring heat and hot spring water are used, and it grows up to about 40 cm long. Mr. Shibuya said, "The texture is chewy, and the food remains crisp even when cooked in a hot pot. In recent years, the shops and talents who offer menus that use "Owani Onsen sprouts" instead of peperoncino pasta have attracted attention. "

January 21st and 22nd were almost sold out on both days. “Some people were happy that they could get fresh things because they sell the harvested items on the morning of the day of operation,” says Shibuya. "We hope that the number of people on the Owani Line will increase even in one section, and that the Owani Line connecting Hirosaki and Owani will lead to the activation of both towns," he said.

The price is 350 yen per bundle. It is sold every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 from Owani Station and 11:30 at Chuohirosaki Station. Until March 26th.
