“Kimomori” can now be seen in the apple fields where Aomori and Hirosaki have finished harvesting.

"Mamomori" refers to the apple fruit that is left at the end of the harvest, and is a custom to give thanks for the harvest and to offer the good harvest next year to the god of the field. Also called "Kimamori", some farmers in the Tsugaru region leave it as a "bird-raising apple" to feed wild birds.

Harvesting of apples begins in August in the Tsugaru region, and late-season species continue until late November. Although there was no major damage from typhoons and weather this year, farmers were rushed to respond to the spread of black spots (black scabs) with black spots on the surface and leaves of fruits.

Mr. Satoshi Takahashi of “Hyanamedo Honpo”, who runs “Hirosaki Cider Kobo Kimori” (Hirosaki City Shimizu Tomita, TEL 0172-88-8936), whose store name derives from “Kimori” Farmers don't always leave "tree guards", but if you see apples that are left untouched, I'd be happy if they could think of them as apples that they have grown for a year."
