"The strongest bean deciding match 2018" was held on September 21 at Tsugaru Yatai Village Kadare Yokocho (Momoishi Town, Hirosaki City). Sponsored by the Aomori Mozu Study Group.

"Kamame" is characterized by the brown hair growing on its pods and is a green soybean that is native to Aomori and has a strong sweetness and richness. According to the study group, farmers often grow their own crops on vacant farmland as their own crops, and rarely go outside Aomori prefecture.

This year's sixth competition, a record number of 19 groups and farmers exhibited hair beans. The judging method is a voting process based on eating comparisons by general participants, and the 6 types that have won the qualifying round will play the final together with the 3 types that won the prize last year to determine the most delicious hair beans.

The winner of the grand prix was Shigeru Fushishi from Fukushi Farm (Maeda Mansion, Inakadate Village). Continuing from last year, the second consecutive Grand Prix win is the first time since the tournament began. Mr. Fukushi, who has been cultivating hair beans for about 20 years, said, "The timing of harvest is important.

Regarding the award, he said, "I have been aiming for the second consecutive championship since I won the grand prix last year. Although I did not announce the names of my friends in the result announcement, I gave up, but I was relieved that the last name was called. I want to do my best towards it", showing his motivation for next year.

The prizes are as follows. Gold Award = Aomori Prefectural Goshogawara Agriculture and Forestry High School (Ichinotsubo, Goshogawara City), Silver Award = Takasugi Elementary School (Takasugi, Hirosaki City), Bronze Award = Clover Farm, Atsushi Akaishi (Masakasaka Akai, Hirosaki City).
