An esports event will be held on August 4th in the Hirosaki workspace "SHIFT" (Hyakuseki-cho, Hirosaki City).

This event was designed for the purpose of discovering and training e-sports athletes in Aomori Prefecture and developing the industry as a sport. Part 1 will give a lecture entitled "Trends in the esports industry and the market-What is needed to create the industry-". The second part will hold "THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV" by "SNK e-Sports Support Program" as "Aomori Game Tournament".

“Esports” is an abbreviation for electronic sports, and is the name used when a match by a computer game is regarded as a sports competition. According to Masakatsu Oura of Aomori IT utilization support center that hosts the event, the competition population is over 100 million people in the world, and it is a soccer game at the “Ikiiki Ibaraki Yume National Athletic Meet (74th National Athletic Meet)” held in the fall of 2019. With "Winning Eleven" as an esports event, we plan to hold a prefectural rivalry.

At the lecture, Yasushi Adachi of Osaka Digital Content Business Creation Council and Hajime Kojima of KADOKAWA will be present. Mr. Adachi was involved in the production of games such as the "Samurai Spirits Series" and "The Kirby of the Stars Series", and is currently planning original animations and game projects. Mr. Kojima belongs to KADOKAWA and has a career in the video game general information magazine "Weekly Famitsu Editorial Department" and the web game media "Dengeki Online Editing Department".

In the second section, "Aomori Game Tournament," competitions will be held in qualifying blocks and finals. Participation fee is 500 yen, advance application required.

Mr. Oura says, "Esports is said to be the Olympics of the future. If it becomes a place to find competitors and discuss the market trends and possibilities of esports that have not yet penetrated in Aomori."
