On February 19th, the cherry tree pruning work started in Hirosaki Park (Shimohiragincho, Hirosaki City).

The garden where 2600 trees and 52 kinds of cherry blossoms bloom. In addition to the castle tower and castle gates, there are Hirosaki Castle traces such as the red bridge across the moat, making it one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in Japan. Since it is in full bloom at the same time as Golden Week, it is crowded with many tourists every year.

The cherry blossoms in the garden are characterized by being managed by a tree doctor called "Sakuramori," and the pruning technique of apples, which is the same rose family plant, is applied to pruning the cherry trees. Also called the "Hirosaki method," it has succeeded in extending the cherry blossoms, which have a life of 60 years, for nearly 100 years by performing fertilization, fertilization, and spraying chemicals.

The pruning that started on the same day started from the cherry blossoms near Shimonori Bridge, which was connected to Honmaru by about 30 workers from the Park and Greenery Division, and even carried out on branches up to high places using chainsaws and cranes. "The work continues until the end of March," said Mamoru Sakuraji and Yuji Ebina from the same department.

Pruned branches will be distributed free of charge in front of the green consultation center in the park. It will start from 8:30 on February 23, March 2, 9, 16 and 23, and will end as soon as it disappears. Up to 3 per person.
