“FUNKY STADIUM (Funky Stadium) Presentation REAL 10th” will be held on March 11, 2018 at Goshogawara City Hometown Exchange Center (Ortensia).

The event will be hosted by Hirosaki's dance studio "Funky Stadium", which will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. As a venue for presenting the results of the one-year practice, a total of 500 students aged 4 to 50 in all 39 classes will perform dance this year.

Nobuo Iwabuchi, the president of the studio, is from Iwate prefecture. He started street dance when he was invited to Hirosaki University while he was invited. “In high school, the Kendo club. The music I listened to at the time was unrelated to dance in indies and rock bands,” he recalls.

It was said that there were few places to practice dance in Hirosaki as the background to the establishment of the studio. “When renting public facilities, I could lend them to ballroom dances and ballrooms, but I couldn't lend them to street dances. If I didn't, I started to make one,” Iwabuchi said.

Looking back on 10 years, Mr. Iwabuchi said, "The big turning point was the Great East Japan Earthquake. After the earthquake, I became self-restraining and closed the studio, but I said, "I'm looking forward to my child, so I want to resume early." I was contacted by my mother and I realized that instead of teaching dance itself, it was necessary to make dance a cultural root in the city."

In November 2011, we planned a dance event “Red Bull BC ONE ALLSTAR IN Hirosaki”, which attracted the world's top dancers, in the center of downtown Dote-cho and attracted about 40,000 people. In 2012, the Hirosaki Art Dance Executive Committee was set up, and the performers planned activities such as "Dreamer," a dance stage for children only, and "Cross Cross," a monthly dance contest.

Mr. Iwabuchi says, “I'm happy to say that Hirosaki has a large dance population and high level compared to the size of the population. "This event is the culmination of 10 years. Not only the level of dance but also the stage and sound are particular, so even those who are not interested in dance can enjoy it as a stage performance."

Tickets will be on sale from December 16th. Reserved seats = 3,000 yen, free seats = 2,500 yen. Parent and child seats and wheelchair seats are also prepared.
