On December 1, the lighting ceremony for the Western-style illuminations was held at the former Hirosaki City Library (Shimohiragincho, Hirosaki City).

This building was built in 1906 (Meiji 39). It has been designated as Aomori Prefecture's precious treasure and is now open to the public as a facility of the Municipal Folk Museum. This is the first illumination of the building.

The illumination was handled by space designer Kimi Hasegawa. He has been in charge of Tokyo Dome City and "Sapporo White Illumination". Mr. Hasegawa said at the lighting ceremony, "It was the first time I participated in the lighting ceremony in the snow. It would be great if the locals could re-recognize the charm of the Western-style building in Hirosaki through the illuminations."

From December 22, the aurora projection will be performed on the outer wall of the adjacent Hirosaki City Library, a Christmas food store will be opened called Christmas Market, and a handmade market by eight Aomori writers will be held. Holding time is 22nd = 16:00 to 21:00, 23rd and 24th = 11:00 to 21:00. Until December 24th.
