"Human Library" will be held on November 25 at Bunkyocho Campus, Hirosaki University (Bunkyocho, Hirosaki City).

"Human library", which means "library of people", is an event in which people engaged in social minorities and social contribution activities are regarded as "books" and lent to "readers" who have visited. A "book" with various experiences tells its own experiences and thoughts, and conveys new values and the way of thinking of minorities to "readers".

On the same day, "Reading Time" and two special lectures will be given for each group. In "reading time", one "book" is accompanied by one to three "readers" and listens for about 30 minutes. Twelve "books" including sexual minorities and local heroes will participate.

Hiroo Shimoyama, one of the "books," is currently working as a pier supporter, taking advantage of seven years of school refusal and hikikomori. Mr. Shimoyama expresses his enthusiasm, "I want to be a place where I can think with everyone, aiming for a society in which the word hikikomori is positively accepted."

In the special lecture, Ms. Sekiko Koyamauchi, the representative director of the Gender Equality Area of the General Incorporated Association, has the theme of living in an evacuation center after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and talks about "creating an evacuation center where diverse people can live with peace of mind." Aki Nishino, a clinical psychologist and gid.jp representative of the Japan Society for People with Gender Identity Disorder, will be on the theme of "Living with Gender Identity Disorder/Gender Disorder-Our Anguish and Wishes-" .. The start times are 14:15 to 15:15 and 15:45 to 16:45, respectively.

It will be sponsored mainly by a volunteer group called "Scrambled Eggs" working with students of the same university in Aomori Prefecture to promote awareness of sexual minorities. Hayato Konno, a core staff member of the same university and 3rd year in the Faculty of Humanities, said, “Human Library is rarely held in the Tohoku area, and there are few opportunities to notice problems that the community and people have in their daily lives, so many people know. If it's an opportunity," he says.

Holding time is from 12:30 to 17:00. Free to join.
