Hirosaki's long-established curry specialty store "Curry & Coffee Kawashima" (Hirosaki City, Dote Town, TEL 0172-34-8800) celebrated its 45th anniversary on February 1.

Takeshi Kawashima, who made a U-turn from Tokyo in 1973 (Showa 48), opened at the age of 25. Mr. Kawashima arranged the curry of the popular restaurant that his uncle was running in Aomori City and made it the main menu. At that time, the price of curry was 100 yen, and there were only a few curry shops in the city.

The manufacturing method has not changed for 45 years. It takes about 15 hours to make a day's worth of food and warms it after receiving an order. We try to keep the taste the same as we did when we first started it, but it is changing little by little because there are no stores or manufacturers that offer ingredients. Red ginger, a side dish, is rare nowadays, but it continues to be popular at the time of its founding.

The customer base changed from high school students to university students. “I didn't have a fast food restaurant 40 years ago,” says Kawashima. Customers often learn by ordering rather than using faces, and laughs, "There are some people who place particular orders. After checking the details of the order, they realize that they have come again."

On the same day, we offered curry, hot curry, and W hot curry (700 yen each) for 100 yen. The poster that announces the 45th year was created by his son Takahiro Kawashima, who has experience as a designer. Looking back at 20 and 30 years, he said that he offered the curry at the price at the time of its founding.

The menu includes cutlet curry (950 yen), seafood curry (1,100 yen), curry bowl (850 yen), curry set meal (1,000 yen), and more. The new menu om curry (850 yen) was made by Takahiro's suggestion. In the past there were menus such as toast curry and cheese curry. The blended coffee (350 yen) has the same original composition for 45 years and remains siphoned.

Mr. Kawashima says, "There are many regulars and repeaters who have been eating since I was a student.

Business hours are from 11:00 to 18:00. Closed on Thursdays.
