The exhibition "Apples across the sea" started on August 13th at the gallery of Hirotama's Japanese tea specialty store "Takumodou" (Tamachi, Hirosaki, TEL 0172-32-6884).

This exhibition will show the lithograph works of print maker, Takuji Sakuyama, who is based in New York, USA. Approximately 50 works by Sakuyama with the theme of apples and New York will be exhibited. "Inspired by the New York nickname called Big Apple, I started drawing about 25 years ago using the same lithograph," he says.

Sakuyama moved to the United States in 1966 to enter the Brooklyn Museum Art School. Having lived in New York for more than 50 years, he says he is always thinking about making apple-made works. “New York is a city of contemporary art. We make urban architecture, which can be called the art of the city, and apple, which is a symbol of natural beauty, into one work,” says Sakuyama.

Regarding the exhibition, Mr. Sakuyama said, “I wanted to show my work on the theme of apples in Hirosaki, the city of apples that boasts the largest production in Japan. I want many people in Aomori to see that there is a store."

Holding time is from 9:00 to 17:00. Until the 22nd of this month.
