Photographer and film director Mika Ninagawa's solo exhibition "Mika Ninagawa Exhibition with EiM: A Fleeting but Sparkling Boundary" opened on April 6th at the Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum (Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-32-8950 ). It is one of the main events of the "AOMORI GOKAN Art Festival 2024" being held in Aomori Prefecture.

Ninagawa has worked on many photographic works, films, videos, spatial installations, etc. with a floral motif. He began visiting Hirosaki two years ago to coincide with the cherry blossom season. The cherry blossoms he photographed in Hirosaki will be exhibited at the climax of this solo exhibition.

In addition to Ninagawa's personal works, the exhibition will feature a large-scale work and video installation that utilizes the 15-meter-high, approximately 300-square-meter atrium space created in collaboration with the creative team "EiM." Ninagawa said, "Together with the members of EiM, we considered how to use the unique space of the Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum."

Ninagawa said, "I am often captivated by things that are fleeting and fragile, yet sparkling. The cherry blossoms in Hirosaki are truly wonderful, and so special that I want to see them before I die. It is difficult to predict when they will bloom, and I have already cleared my schedule for this year's shoot, but I am already feeling nervous about whether I will be able to shoot without any problems," he said with a smile.

Opening hours are 9:00-17:00. Closed on Tuesdays. Admission fees are 1,500 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for university and vocational school students, and free for high school students and younger. Until September 1st.
