Hirosaki University announced on April 12 that it will carry out a "3 Down Recipe Project" in collaboration with the Rakuten Recipe website, which is operated by Rakuten (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo).

The site introduces more than 1.1 million recipes and allows users to post and search for recipes.

"3 Down Recipe" was designed by Shigeyuki Nakaji, a professor at the Department of Social Medicine, Hirosaki University, and Chiba Hamauchi, a food researcher, to prevent hypertension from eating habits that "1 in 3 Japanese suffers". I try to develop and propose cooking recipes with the users of the site. 3 Down means reducing "oil", "sugar", and "salinity".

Mr. Nakaji said in the announcement, "For example, collecting recipes made for families with high blood pressure will help people with the same problems." The collaboration between Rakuten Recipes and national universities was the first attempt, and the project is part of the activities of the innovative innovation creation program "COI" that Mr. Nakaji is working on.

Mr. Hamauchi, who works on cookbooks such as healthy dishes, said, “High blood pressure causes swelling and hard constitution and is a familiar problem for women. Low salt is a problem not only for health but also for women's beauty. I want to make a recipe that I can't easily make."

At the tasting party that day, Mr. Hamauchi devised "long motoshijimi simmered food" and "scented vegetable-rich vinegar salad" as a real meal. Mr. Nakaji said, "Thank you for using the products from Aomori Prefecture," and softened the venue. The recipe is now available on Rakuten Recipes, and a recipe video co-produced with RAB Aomori Broadcasting is also available online.

The project will hold a "Low salt and prevent hypertension! 3 down recipe contest" for 8 months from April to November. The recipes posted on the contest page will be reviewed by Mr. Nakaji, Mr. Hamauchi and "Rakuten recipes", and the excellent recipes will be published in the recipe book scheduled to be published in 2017.
