On October 18th, a lecture by costume designer Wadaemi Wadami will be held at Hirosaki Civic Center (Shiragincho, Hirosaki City).

Emi Wada was born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1937. In 1986, she won the Academy Award (Costume Design Award) for the first Japanese woman in the movie "Ran" directed by Akira Kurosawa. After that, he was in charge of costume design mainly for video works such as the movie "Mihodo" directed by Nagisa Oshima and "HERO" directed by Chang Yimou, and is currently in charge of costume design for the movie at the request of China.

Actor Ishida Ichinari will be the host of the day. Kazuo Ishida, who planned the lecture, was a former theater producer and has been assigned to the Faculty of Social Welfare, Hirosaki Gakuin University since last year. What they all have in common is the stage "Furry Marie" created in 1994. “I think it's because of some reason that such a lecture can be held in Hirosaki, which is said to be the birthplace of the original author Shuji Terayama,” says Ishida.

Wada is in charge of costume design in the movie "Dream Festival" directed by Hideo Nagabe, a writer from the same city in 1989. Mr. Wada is making costumes for "Tsugaru Kogin Sashi" in the film, and Hirosaki will be visiting since the movie.

The lecture will be divided into two parts for a total of two hours. The first part is about Wada's book "Working in the world", and the second part is a question and answer section with local junior high and high school students. Mr. Ishida says, "Why did you call Mr. Wadaemi to Hirosaki? Please find the answer in the lecture."

Doors open at 13:30 and start at 14:00. Admission is 1,000 yen, free for junior high school students and younger.
