On February 22nd, the "Cat Pottery Collection" project started at the "Tsugaru Kanayama ware" (Kanayama, Goshogawara City, TEL 0173-29-3350 ) exhibition hall.

This project will display and sell dishes and accessories with cat motifs in connection with "Cat Day" on February 22nd. It started in 2021 and was well received, so it was held for the third consecutive year.

More than 20 items will be sold, including plates in the shape of cat faces and chopstick rests with cat footprints. Last year's popular "cat wind chimes" will also be on sale, and this year, the cat-shaped hina dolls "Ohinya-sama" will be lined up as a new item for the Doll's Festival. If the work runs out during the period, another new work will be prepared.

Tsugaru Kanayama ware is characterized by a technique called yakishime, which is fired at a high temperature of 1,350 degrees Celsius for about a week to harden. The patterns created by flames and ash are handcrafted one by one by the artist, so each piece has a unique texture. . The person in charge of the "cat pottery collection" said with a smile, "I want you to actually pick it up and choose it. I hope you can feel a little warm at home."
