On May 30, at the Iwaki Cultural Center Asoberu in Hirosaki City (Kata, Hirosaki City), a "Project Health Checkup" was started to collect health checkup data for more than 1,000 residents.

The medical checkup of the project targeting the residents of the Iwaki district (formerly Iwaki-cho) of the city will continuously collect approximately 600 items of medical checkup data every year. Residents go through the medical examinations performed at the venue for 4 to 6 hours, with over 200 staff members. It is said to be a unique initiative in the world, and this year marks the second year since the adoption of the "COI (center of innovation) STREAM" program promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology from last year.

Shigeyuki Nakaji, Research Leader and Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine, Hirosaki University, said, "The accumulated health checkup data can be useful for predicting signs of diseases such as dementia and verification of preventive methods. The greatest strength is over 600 items. You can link the data and analyze it. "

Mr. Nakaji set up the "Iwaki Health Promotion Project" in 2005 with the goal of "returning short-lived prefectures" to Aomori Prefecture, which has the shortest life expectancy. We conducted activities such as health surveys and health guidance for the residents of the Iwaki area, and collected data on approximately 360 items of medical examinations for a total of 18,000 people in 10 years. “The relationship of trust with the residents, which was created by continuing to report on the results and health advice, has led to the realization of this project,” Nakaji said.

At present, the number of participating companies has increased, and the number of items that companies want, such as visceral fat measurement, has increased. Mr. Nakaji says, "I am grateful for the global interest and the attention of companies. The challenge is how to use the data to improve the health of the residents."

On July 3, the "Healthy Aging Innovation Forum" will be held at the Hitotsubashi Auditorium in Tokyo (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). “It's also a place to present the latest reports, so I hope you'll come visit us,” Nakaji says. Holding time is from 13:00 to 17:00. free entrance.
