On March 12, Hirosaki City installed security cameras and security lights in the city centered around Hirosaki University.

The city is a school city with six universities. It is said that the total number of students is over 10,000, and when the number of faculty members is added, about 6% of the city's population will be affiliated with universities. In recent years, there have been many crimes against female college students and voice calls to children, and it has been required to strengthen the crime prevention system for students and children.

The installation of security cameras is the city's first initiative. Installation of 20 units was completed on February 4, and 50 units of security lights were installed near the security camera installation location on March 12. It was said that the location was decided by interviewing students of Hirosaki University and local neighborhoods around the university, and holding workshops such as walking in the crime prevention district.

The image size of the security camera, which is an outdoor dome camera integrated recorder, is 1280 x 960 pixels. The video data recorded at all times is recorded on the memory card built into each camera for about two weeks. Old images that have expired are automatically overwritten and deleted.
