On February 14, apples from Nishimeya Village, Aomori Prefecture, were delivered to the Japanese Embassy in Doha, Qatar.

The apple has a picture of the Qatar flag on its surface. During the growth of apples, only the part exposed to sunlight becomes red, so this feature is used to put a sticker with a picture on the surface and color it. By promoting the apples of the village, which is located at the gateway to the Shirakami Mountains, which is a World Natural Heritage site, the aim is to deepen interest in Japan.

For delivery, Mayor Seki Kazunori himself visited Doha. Mayor Seki said, “If we can make a story in the form of an apple in the Shirakami Mountains, a world heritage site, we would be interested in Nishimeya Village from overseas. It would be great if Nishimeya Village could also contribute to the international exchange between Japan and Qatar.” Speak to.

It was implemented in cooperation with the restaurant group "COVA JAPAN" in Tokyo. The group has been using agricultural products from the village for restaurants that have been operating in Tokyo since 2012. A Japanese restaurant called “JUNKO Sushi & Japanese Dinning” was opened in Doha, and it was triggered by the fact that there was a great interest in Japanese culture locally.

Mayor Sekimura and others concerned will visit the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France on the 16th.
