At the Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum (Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture, TEL 0172-54-8181), the 6th Fun Hina Kokeshi Exhibition is currently being held.

The exhibition is a collection of over 200 Kokeshi dolls made by 11 traditional Kokeshi doll craftsmen from around Japan. Mr. Takuro Yamada of the same building said, “I wanted to deliver“ the earliest spring in Tsugaru ”and planned it 6 years ago”. It is said that it will become an annual event as it becomes a new tourism content.

“Kokeshi dolls are hand-made one by one and there is no same thing. There are subtle differences in the same type, and it is fun for fans to choose the one they like,” says Yamada. Mr. Yamada himself laughs, "I didn't know anything about kokeshi dolls before I worked at the same building, but I became a fan because I had more chances to come in contact with kokeshi workers and kokeshi dolls."

There are currently 45 kokeshi craftsmen on display. 60 kokeshi craftsmen are planning to exhibit, and they will be exhibited as soon as they arrive. The number of inquiries about the work is increasing year by year, and it is said that "Kokeshi girls" often refer to photos published on Twitter and Facebook.

“I used to call me only by phone. I used to have a lot of troubles, but now I can look at photos via the Internet,” Yamada says. “Kokeshi dolls were displayed in the back of an old house, and there were few opportunities to know about them. Nowadays, there are people who use the Internet to send various Kokeshi dolls. May be widespread. ”
