Apples from Nishimeya Village, Aomori Prefecture were exhibited at the reception party held on December 18th at the Imperial Hotel (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) to celebrate the founding of Qatar.

Since 2012, the village has been shipping locally produced agricultural products such as apples to Italian restaurant COVA TOKYO (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). The apple exhibited at this party has a Qatar flag and a picture of the Hinomaru. The village has worked on the idea of Mr. Kiyohisa Minamizato, the president of COVA JAPAN who oversees the restaurant. Since Mr. Nanri is working on PR activities for Nishimeya Village through his own stores that are operating both domestically and overseas, the apple was delivered to the embassy through his friend Ambassador to the Emirate of Qatar, Emirates Mohamed Villard, and delivered to the party. It was decided to line up.

Mayor Seki Kazunori attended the party. We exchanged information with the Qatar government officials and promoted the agricultural products of the village and the Shirakami Mountains, a world heritage site. “I was nervous when invited to a sunny seat. It was an important first step to strengthen the interaction between Nishimeya and Qatar,” said Kenichiro Takeuchi of the Village Industry Division.

The apples in the village will be sent to the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, which has jurisdiction over the World Heritage Site in 2015. This apple is said to have the UNESCO logo. Mr. Takeuchi is enthusiastic about the story of the world heritage, Shirakami-Sanchi's apples to UNESCO, drawn by Mr. Nanzato. I want to make the best of Nishimeya's apples to the world.
