The Goshogawara 6th Industrialization Promotion Council announced on April 5th the establishment of a "research group for promoting the conversion of outer hair beans to a club."

Mame is edamame from Aomori. It is an edamame that has been handed down between farmers for generations, mainly in the Tsugaru region. It has brown bristles on its pods and is characterized by its rich taste. In 2010, the hair beans were installed on the Space Shuttle "Atlantis" and stayed in space for four months.

The study group intends to establish a standard for collection, cultivation, and shipping in order to use the hair beans as "space hair beans" as an initiator for regional agriculture, and to stabilize them as regional brand agricultural products in the future.

At the study group, a group of local agricultural producers, members of the Aomori Mozu Study Group, students of Goshogawara Norin High School, and others participated in active discussions about the future of cosmow bean.

A cultivation test was conducted in FY2014. From fiscal 2015, we will begin full-scale cultivation of space wool and plan to ship it.
