JR Akita branch office (Akita City, Akita Prefecture) will begin distributing "Station Cards" in the Akita and Tsugaru areas including Hirosaki Station on August 1.

The station card is a card that contains information about each station and popular trains that stop. It will be distributed free of charge at the ticket gates at 6 stations: Yokote Station, Akita Station, Higashi Noshiro Station, Hirosaki Station, Kisagata Station, and Oga Station. This is the first initiative of the branch office, which has all of Akita Prefecture and Aomori Prefecture's Tsugaru Area 7 Line Ward as its business area.

The front of the card at Hirosaki Station is an illustration of Hirosaki Castle and the limited express train "Tsugaru". The illustration was done by illustrator Bamiri-san. It is said that this request came from his experience working in East Japan.

From July 30, the branch office has opened an official Twitter and Instagram account. A spokesman said, "We want to convey the charm of the area along with the station card so that we can come when the new coronavirus calms down."

The distribution period is until March 31, 2021. Distribution is at the time when station employees respond.
