On July 10th, the bookstore “Mawarimichi Bunko” (Hirosaki City, Blacksmith Town) opened in Hirosaki's Kakkomi Alley.

The store area is 7 tsubo. Inside the store are about 1,000 old and new books. The owner, Takumi Nara, originally worked at a hotel in Aomori city but retired and started a business.

``I decided to leave Aomori because I was transferred, so I thought about doing what I wanted to do in Hirosaki,'' said Nara, who was not a book lover for a long time, and began reading books about five years ago. .. "I only read a few business books a year, but when I started reading novels, I started going to second-hand book stores," he recalls.

"Even in the same bookshelf, the books you pick up at the first time and the second time will be different. There are encounters that you can find unexpected books, broaden your horizons, and deepen your interest," says Nara.

The name of the store was given with the meaning of "stop short cuts only for searching and take a walk around the detours for reading." Preparation started two years ago, and when looking for a place to open a store near the just-opened Hirosaki Brick Warehouse Museum, the property that was a former izakaya decided to meet the conditions. "I don't really care about opening a store in the red light district. There is also an image that a person who drinks alone enjoys reading," he smiles.

"We planned to open an SNS in the middle of May and open it in the end of June, but the opening date was extended due to a mistake in planning," Nara said. On the first day of the opening, he said that he saw SNS and heard that he was looking forward to it, and saw the communication between customers who were present in the store. "There were times when customers who stopped by looking at the appearance bought a book. One of the attractions of a bookstore is that I don't know what touches the chord."

"I would like to buy used books in the future. I want to create a store where customers who come to the store can discover new things and meet like I did," he says.

Business hours are from 13:00 to 21:00. Closed on Thursdays.
