Aomori/Ajigasawa's popular dog "Wasao" died on June 8. The squid-baked store where wasao was kept, “Nanasato Nagahama Kikuya Shoten” (Ajigasawa Town, Nishitsugaru-gun, Aomori Prefecture), is now equipped with a flower stand, and the local residents continue to mourn.

Wasao is an Akita dog that has been popular for being "bugs cute". It is a variety program "Genius! Shimura Animal Garden" of the Nippon Television series where Ken Shimura, who died in March, was the main MC. Then it was turned into a corner. In the fall of 2007 (Heisei 19), the late Kikuya storekeeper, Setsuko Kikutani, protected Wasao, an abandoned dog. Meleko Mereyama, a female college student who visited the following spring, introduced her on a blog, and her popularity sparked.

According to Ken Kudo, the representative of the Wasao Project, it was difficult for Wasao to stand from this April. When I was taken to the veterinary hospital where I was attending because I suddenly became unwell and did not urinate on June 7, a veterinarian told me that "1st or 2nd is a pass". .. “If you take the drip, you'll be fine again. The new dog food was just unsealed,” says Kudo.

I took my breath at 17:54 on June 8th. Mr. Kudo, who saw Wasao's death moment, said, "I closed my eyes so that I could fall asleep quickly, and stopped breathing. I think that I was called by Mr. Setsuko and shook my tail, and followed me." speak.

Wasao's death was announced the following day. The corpses were burned the same day, and the remains were placed next to Tsubaki, who died in May 2019 in his wife's wife, Wasao's wife. Flower offerings and mourning guests are uninterrupted, and voices revering the wasao on the Internet are gathering.

Tetsumitsu, the eldest son of Setsuko and the owner of Wasao, said, "I have received letters from all over the country. I am grateful to everyone who loved Wasao."

Mr. Kudo said, “I had been involved in the project for 13 years because I introduced Mr. Meleyama's blog to Mr. Setsuko as a fan. I can no longer take pictures, but I am still alive in me. We are planning a farewell party, but we have not decided what kind of form it will be held in. We hope that it can be held in a way that people all over the country can also participate."
