A special exhibition "Yuyuki Tomino's World" will be held on April 18th at the Aomori Museum of Art (Yasuda Chikano, Aomori City, TEL 017-783-3000).

Yuuki Tomino is a director who directed robot animations known for their masterpieces such as “Mobile Suit Gundam” and “Legendary Giant Ideon”. The exhibition will include approximately 3000 setting notes, sketches and storyboards. This is the first planned exhibition that places a spotlight on Mr. Tomino himself, and has toured 6 locations nationwide. Aomori will be the 4th venue.

According to Kenji Kudo, curator of the same building, it was in 2015 that he and Mr. Yozo Yamaguchi, curator of the Fukuoka City Museum of Art, asked Mr. Tomino for the planned exhibition. At the beginning, Mr. Tomino refused, saying, "I don't have a work that I can exhibit as a director." After this, after two years of negotiations with Mr. Yamaguchi, this special exhibition was realized.

At the venue, there will be 6 themes, from "Astro Boy", who was involved in the production, to the latest "Gundam Reconguista in G". “Animation is the final form of the work. In this exhibition, we will introduce the things that were born in the process. Since it was almost unreleased, there are only core fans who have never seen it,” says Mr. Kudo.

At the Aomori venue, three-dimensional objects using the Aomori Museum of Art will also be exhibited. In the four-story open-air exhibition space "Areco Hall", a dummy balloon bust of a mobile suit "Li Gazi" with a full scale of about 8 meters is exhibited, and robot models made by popular voice actors and model works of famous modelers are displayed, as well as Aomori. "Ending" corner will be added only at the venue.

Related events are also planned. On the first day of the exhibition, we will invite Mr. Tomino and Mr. Shinji Higuchi, the director of the movie "Shin Godzilla", to hold a commemorative dialogue entitled "Robot Anime Past, Present, and Future." On June 7th, a special screening of "G's Reconguista" theatrical version and a stage greeting by Mr. Tomino will be held. We also plan a behind-the-scenes talk by Mr. Kudo and a gallery talk for beginners, and will hold a screening of Tomino's theater work at Cinemadict (Aomori City) and Forum Hachinohe (Hachinohe City) during the exhibition period.

We also sell original goods such as the official exhibition catalog (4,000 yen) and the "Exhibition Commemorative Gunpla" (4,500 yen). Tono-san's age and Gundam model number "RX-78" will be sold as a premium ticket (20,000 yen) limited to 78 tickets. Includes priority invitations and exhibition merchandise for events that Mr. Tomino will visit.

Mr. Kudo, who speaks with the “Gundam generation”, said that “Tomino World is not only a feature that uses rich expressive power of animation, but also a contemporary society, civilization, and a human drama that has been delved into.” "There is a lot of information that we can't publish yet, but we'll be releasing it on our website, so please look forward to the event," he said.

Opening hours are from 9:30 to 17:00 (May 31st), 9:00 to 18:00 (after June 1st). Last admission 30 minutes before. The admission fee is 1,500 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for students, and free for elementary and junior high school students. Until June 21st.
