On February 24th, "Rice shop Mamagose" will open in the Hirosaki multi-purpose building "Watoku Center" (Watoku Town, Hirosaki City).

The same store that opens in the same building about 60 years ago. Kyohei Matsumoto, the owner, says, "The concept is home-cooking with a mixture of Japanese, Western, and Chinese food. The target is people who are hungry after work but do not want to eat at home or want to go where they care."

Mr. Matsumoto was born in Kanagawa and grew up in Mutsu and Wakinosawa. After graduating from Hirosaki Jitsugyo High School, after graduating, he gained experience as a restaurant at Hirosaki lunch boxes and "cafe TUBE LANE" (Dote Town). "I didn't think about starting a business at first, but I couldn't find a place to re-employ, so I started and became independent," he says with a smile.

The store area is about 6 tsubo. There are 5 counter seats and 4 small table seats. The store name "Mamagose" is Shimokita dialect and is "rice preparation". Mr. Matsumoto says, "At night, the sound of karaoke leaks from the neighbor, but if you enjoy the atmosphere of the Watoku Center including it, you can enjoy it."

Mr. Matsumoto said he decided to open a store in December last year. "My brother made the signboard. My friends pushed me back. I didn't need much time to prepare with the help of others," he recalls. "The menu will be something that makes you happy when you are served. You can make a large bowl of soup or add a small set of small bowls."

The menu includes Japanese-style bread gratin (900 yen), buckwheat tea Ochazuke (400 yen), root vegetables Zaku Kiema curry (900 yen), ginger grilled meal (800 yen), three small bowls (800 yen). The blackboard menu changes depending on the quantity and the week. We also have small bowl menus such as "Shimokita Niwame" (400 JPY) that makes use of the Shimokita Peninsula origin. Mr. Matsumoto says, "I want to gradually serve Shimokita's local cuisine, which is different from Tsugaru." Drinks, alcohol, and sweets menus are also available.

Mr. Matsumoto started his career as a cook when he was in middle school. “I was happy that my dad ate his own midnight snack and his silent father called out, “Isn't there more?” "We want to create a restaurant that makes people who are difficult or quarreled smile, and who wants to be reminded of the goodness of home cooking."

Business hours are from 11:00 to 21:00. Closed on Wednesdays.
