On February 7, the "Winter Rice Field Art 2020" was held at Inakadate, Aomori.

"Winter rice field art" started in 2016 (Heisei 28) as a method of utilizing winter at the rice field art venue of 140 meters in width and 70 meters in height. Draw patterns and designs on the snow with the footsteps you walked with snowshoes. It was created over 6 hours and 30 minutes from 10:00 on the same day by 10 members of the citizen group "Snow Artist Group It's OK." and 2 volunteer staff.

“I was hopeless three days ago this year,” said Kengo Tazawa, the representative of the group. Due to the warm winter nationwide, there was no snow in the venue and the soil was visible. Snow disappeared due to rain at the "Winter Stadium Art" held on February 1 and 2 at the Hirosaki Sports Park Haruka Yume Stadium (Toyoda Hirosaki City). According to the announcement from the Aomori Local Meteorological Observatory, the amount of snow accumulated over the last three days is 61 cm. Tazawa says, "It has become a snow of grace."

For the production, decide the area to be squeezed based on the rough sketch and the lines with only footprints, and plan the production route in advance. "I use a compass and a compass to draw straight lines and circles, but this year I was particular about curves by visual observation," says Tazawa.

Mr. Tazawa said, “I heard the news that the winter festival was canceled due to lack of snow nationwide. This event managed to complete the snow art by snowing. It is easy to be influenced by the weather, but also enjoy it. I want it".

Admission to the Observatory is 300 yen for adults (junior high school students and above), 100 yen for elementary school students (elementary school students), and free for elementary school students and younger. Light up from 17:00 to 21:00. Until February 9th.
