On June 1st, at the Bunkyo Elementary School in Hirosaki City (Nakano, Hirosaki City), the "Jumbo Orahono Iroha Carta-Hirosaki" event was held.

This is an event in which A2 size Tsugaru Bento Carta are lined up with a regional theme and compete for the number to be acquired. This year, about 50 elementary and junior high school students participated in 6 teams.

Hiroko Takagi, secretary general of the three university ward regional communication liaison council, said, “The large-scale carta was handmade five years ago. The illustration was requested by Neputa Matsumori-machi artist, Takatake Yamauchi, and the poem is the third. We called to Taisei Elementary School and Hirosaki City Third Junior High School, and selected from a total of 1650 works."

According to Mr. Takagi, Edo Iroha Carta has been doing as a community center business for a long time. Intergenerational exchanges were the main purpose, but there was also a side to convey the meaning of disused words such as "㑑" and "ゐ". “I came up with a locally-based carta to create an opportunity to learn about local love and the region,” says Takagi.

In addition to Tsugaru dialects such as "I'm playing with straw hands and swords" and "Dabesa okke wa kake wa kake nattebe!", "Shirakami Beech Forest is a World Heritage Site." There is also a phrase with a strong regional character such as "walking up to Kudo Temple".

The rule is to line up 90 cards and find the picture cards and letter cards read out at the competition. Only the children participated in the first game, and the second game was a mixed game with local adults. Mr. Takagi smiles, "I would be happy if it would be an opportunity for intergenerational exchanges and for children to learn about the area."
