On December 7th, the Hirosaki After School will hold an excursion program to visit the "sprout ground" where the traditional Owani-cho brand vegetables "Owani Onsen sprouts" are grown.

The bean sprouts cultivation facility is currently not open to the public. It is said to have a history of more than 350 years, and it is characterized by the fact that it is cultivated only with heat from hot springs and that the water used for cultivation is all hot spring water. A project that agreed with the purpose of the school was realized by the cooperation of a business cooperative.

The school aims to provide a space where people can share their enjoyment by implementing a variety of learning and play programs after the children's school. Beginning in February 2014, we are engaged in various activities from English and science experience classes to designing Yuru characters.

Regarding the excursion program, the organizer, Ms. Riko Sakai, said, "The purpose is to learn the traditional culture of Owani Town, but in fact it is also an aim to get people interested in the current status of the Konan Railway.

Use the Konan Railway to move on the day. Inside the car, the mascot character Russell of the Konan Railway will appear, and employees of the company will explain the train and a railway quiz with the cooperation of Hirosaki university students. "I would like children who are responsible for the future of the region to deepen their interest in local companies and traditional foods. A train ride and a visit to the bean sprouts are ideal for creating that opportunity," Sakai said.

Participants are limited to 10 groups with parents and children or parents (first-come-first-served basis). The participation fee is 1,000 yen. Free of charge for children, including round-trip train charges and crocodile hot spring bathing tickets. The application deadline is December 1st.
