The sushi-only rice "Mutsunishi" from Aomori and Kuroishi began to be distributed on November 1st.

Mutsunishiki is sushi-only rice that Kuroishi City aims to brand. Production began in 1972 and was widely cultivated in the Tsugaru region, but since 1999 (Heisei 11), production has stopped in recent years due to increased demand for "Tsugaru Roman."

In 2015 (Heisei 27), Kuroishi City and the local group of young farmers, "Namurokome Ome Club", restarted production of Mtunishiki. It began to be distributed last year and was sold to 25 sushi shops in Aomori prefecture.

Before the "Sushi Day" on November 1st, when the new rice sales started this year, on October 28th, at the Matsunoyu Exchange Center (Nakamachi, Kuroishi-shi), we invited local press people and local idols to use Mt. A sushi tasting party was held. Participants commented, "Suitable for sushi," "Understand the difference."

According to Mr. Fumihide Kudo, the president of the Okuro Nambu Club, Mt. Nishiki is one of the reasons that production stopped because of its high length and easy fall. “The amount of harvest is an issue. I want to make a brand rice that will not lose to Aomori's new brand rice, “Heatenki no Hekireki,””.

This year, the number of stores that use Mutunishiki has increased by 2 to 27 in the prefecture. It does not sell it to the general public, but plans to sell it at a sushi store.
