On September 26th, the Aomori Mozu Study Group held "The Strongest Wheat Beans Battle '14" at Tsugaru Hirosaki Yatai Village Kadare Yokocho (Momoishi Town, Hirosaki City).

The second match of the match is an event aimed at branding Aomori's traditional edamame "hair beans". This year, the beans that were submitted by 12 entries were examined by 10 judges and general participants.

Hiromasa Egashira, an associate professor at Yamagata University and the chairman of the Edamame Research Group, greeted the event at the beginning of the event as a judge. He explained, "Maybe the seeds were brought in from China," and invited the audience to laugh, saying, "I could finally participate in this event."

The winner of the championship is Shigeto Ichinohe, JIJI Farm (Toyoaki Inakadatemura). After I retired, I started farming, and started to grow hair beans from beans that my acquaintance gave me. It is cultivated without pesticides, and it is exhibited as an agricultural method where smoldering charcoal (kuntan) is mixed with soil without using fertilizer. Mr. Ichinohe was awarded the prize as "obviously happy." “I want to make even more delicious hair beans,” he said of his enthusiasm for the future.

The number of general participants was planned to be limited to 30, but since there were many applicants, the number of participants was increased. Including the jump-in participants on the day, about 80 people are said to have participated. Hideki Noro, who participated in the final match for the first time, said, “I ate and compared hairy beans for the first time, but I was surprised that the taste changes so much with the producers of the same variety.”
