On May 19th, a national tour live of US musician Tommy Guerrero was held at Hirosaki's temple "Sengyūin" (Shinmachi, Hirosaki City).

Guerrero is a former professional skateboarder from San Francisco, USA. He made his debut as a musician in 1997 and is engaged in activities such as providing music for Japanese TV commercials and being in charge of soundtracks for surf movies. On May 8th of this year, the new album "DUB SESSION" was released for the first time in two years. The album is titled Japan Tour and is currently touring in 9 locations throughout Japan.

In the background of the event held in Hirosaki, select shops "slow poke" (Minamigawaraga-cho, Hirosaki, TEL 0172-32-7426) Toru Wakashiro, with 9 cities selected as big cities such as Osaka and Tokyo. There is Mr. Tsuchi's efforts. Mr. Wakashiro is a fan who recommends Guerrero's music to regular customers of the store, and says, "My dream for about 20 years has come true."

According to Mr. Wakashiro, Guerrero was the first encounter when he appeared in the movie "Police Academy 4" as a member of the skateboard team. "I heard my name as a musician, but at that time I couldn't get the album, so I bought it right after it was resold. Since then, I started thinking about asking if I could live in Hirosaki."

It was said that he was refused when he first requested it in 2005. Mr. Wakashiro said, "I thought it might be possible if it was included in the nationwide tour, so there was a live in Sendai four years ago. I started requesting again when I came to Sendai." Reveal.

Mr. Wakashiro who has met Guerrero twice in the past. The first time was a live performance held at a cafe in San Francisco in 2007, and he went to the site. I confirmed by email directly in advance and had a conversation by telling me that I had emailed at the venue. The second time I happened to come across a flea market with friends in San Francisco. When Mr. Wakashiro asked, "Do you remember?", he answered, "I remember."

The live was held in the main hall of the temple, and there were 270 people attending, some of whom rushed from Akita and Iwate. Mr. Ryudai Murai, a priest of the same temple, was a classmate who had held a "temple jazz" event, and "I wanted to do it in an interesting place," Wakashiro reveals. Guerrero himself was the first time to live in the temple.

Mr. Wakashiro who was always watching over Guerrero's performance from the side of the stage during the live. "I couldn't afford to enjoy it because I was worried about the fact that the main hall fell out of the floor due to the weight of the visitors, and there were complaints from neighboring residents.

“I was glad that Mr. Guerrero arrived at the venue and was delighted to say “Amazing.” After the rehearsal was over, he was playing and sleeping on the tatami mat, saying he would remain alone at the venue. The peak of my feelings was during the rehearsal. Some staff were crying."

In the live encore, he played "So Blue It's Black" from his debut album "Loose Grooves & Bastard Blues". Mr. Wakashiro said, "I remembered about 20 years ago when I was listening. It was nice to hear that the people I had recommended from those days came to the venue and said, "I'm glad." Speak to.

When he sent Guerrero to the airport, he said there were conversations such as "contact me when I come to the United States" and "let's drink". "I want to call Hirosaki again," he smiles.

Guerrero's nationwide tour continues with Sapporo and Takamatsu, ending with the May 26 performance in Yokohama.
