The Tonkatsu specialty store "Sukeroku" (Hirosaki City Ekimae), which was founded in Hirosaki for 80 years, was reopened on April 13 for the first time in 34 years.

The third generation, Junichi Suginuma, has reached the point of resumption. Sukeroku was founded by Suginuma's grandmother, Hatsu, in Ichibancho around 1932 (Showa 7). Moved diagonally across the Aomori Bank Memorial Hall more than 50 years ago. It was open until 1985. It is said that they also had branches in Hirosaki's department store "Hirosa" and Goshogawara's "Marutomo department store".

After closing, Mr. Suginuma left Hirosaki and worked in a Japanese restaurant centered in Tokyo. "I ate about 300 tonkatsu specialty stores from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south," said Mr. Suginuma. I returned to Hirosaki two years ago. I was preparing for the resumption. Regarding the resumption, he said, "I have a desire to give back to Hirosaki."

The store area is about 8 tsubo, with 16 seats. The menu sticks to the manufacturing method of the restaurant, uses meat from Aomori Prefecture, and the cut cabbage is the way it was cut at the time. The sauce is also original. Mr. Suginuma says, "The technique of craftsmen is how to fry and manage meat."

The daily lunch menu (800 yen) and business lunch (1,000 yen) are limited to 10 meals per day. For dinner, there is a set of 3 dishes and 2 drinks for a drink (1,500 JPY), and the one-item menu includes Kami-loin, Hirekatsu (1,100 JPY or more), special roast (1,600 JPY), and beef-katsu (3,500 JPY). A rice set (400 yen) and Gozen set are also prepared, and drinks such as local sake, shochu, and wine are also provided.

Mr. Suginuma is now 73 years old. "I want to continue as long as my body moves. I want to grow successors who can inherit Sukeroku's goodwill," he said.

Business hours are from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 22:00.
