On March 16th, a photo exhibition "Family Shapes" will be held at Tsukihoin (Nishimomori, Hirosaki City) near the Zenrin Street in Hirosaki.

"Family Shapes" serialized in the monthly magazine "Connecting Hands" published by "Nationally Connecting Hands" (Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture), which operates as a society for people with intellectual disabilities and their families The same exhibition. It will be held for the first time in Aomori.

Kanae Mori of the joint venture company Hopes (Hirosaki City) has a brother-in-law who has intellectual disabilities. "My parents were getting older, and eventually I had to live with my husband. I didn't know much about my brother-in-law or my family with intellectual disabilities. I was wondering if I could do it," he said.

18 photos are on display. "We will also display panels that show the bright appearances and back stories of various families," says Mori. Yoshiaki Otaka, a priest at Tsukihoin, the venue of the event, said that he had a child with intellectual disability, and the event was held at that edge.

According to Hirosaki City's “Social Welfare Overview” announced last March 31, there are 1,508 people with intellectual disabilities living in the city. "Including family and related people, it is more than three times the number. Aomori still has a tendency to hide people with intellectual disabilities due to prejudice and discrimination. That is also one of the ways of family, but as many people as possible I want people to know about it," says Mori.

“My brother-in-law is good at some points, and I don't want people to have a poor view because they are families with people with disabilities. I think that everyone is born with meaning. I'd be happy if I could take it home with me."

free entrance. Holding time is from 9:00 to 15:00. Until March 21st.
